Mood Swings and Money

I found myself thinking about the relationships between sudden mood swings and money.  Mad spending of either limited or non-existent financial resources has been characterized as typical of bi-polar or “manic” behaviour”.  But I just don’t think it’s that unusual for people living on freelance or non-fixed income to think themselves citizens of the world when they receive a pay-cheque or even a promised pay-cheque. “I’m functioning. I’m a player. I spend, therefore I exist”.  I am respectable... I paid my bills and then purchase something and thus contributed to the economy and to the flow of life. And of course I become careless about remembering the depressing details of my bank balance. Such behaviour may or may not be ‘bi-polar’. I think it’s normal, meaning common and hardly unusual.
